Causes?
There are controversial ideas on how human trafficking has become. Many people say that this issue has come about because of poverty. In the article by Basil, she says that human beings are moved to different places and environments according to needs and demands. West African children are recruited into a range of exploitative work and they are moved about illegally throughout the region. The inflated poverty is the result of poor management of the Nation’s economic resources which has created a wide margin between the rich and the poor. Some families with many children engage some of them to hawk wares to make both ends meet (Basil 4). But, others feel differently. Poverty, is said to be one of the main reasons for human trafficking. People argue that this idea is too simple. In “Human Trafficking,” Feingold explains how trafficking is migration gone terribly. To fill the demand for cheaper labor, many victims are trafficked within the same economic class or even within a single country. Poverty may be a cause but not a big one. Normally it is seen not to be. Instead of poverty being the leading cause, immigration is said to be most responsible for this issue. In “Human Trafficking Plagues U.S. Cities,” the article explains how experts believe that metro Atlanta is an ideal setting for human trafficking because of its growing immigrant population. It is easy to hide people within a larger group of immigrants (Pascual 1).
